How to Get to Moganshan: Transport and a Two-Day Itinerary
Drive times from Hangzhou, Shanghai, Suzhou and Nanjing, how to connect from Deqing and Deqing West high-speed rail stations, and a suggested two-day itinerary for a team trip.
Where Moganshan is, and how people get there
Moganshan sits in Deqing County, Huzhou, Zhejiang, and is reasonably accessible from the main Yangtze Delta cities. Driving is the choice for most groups, because public transport connections within the mountain area are limited and groups usually carry supplies.
Driving: the most common and most flexible option
Hangzhou: about 60–80 km, 1–1.5 hours.
Shanghai: about 200 km, 2.5–3 hours.
Suzhou: about 180 km, 2–2.5 hours.
Nanjing: about 250 km, about 3 hours.
Toll and fuel costs aside, driving gives you the flexibility to stop for supplies and to move between the property and the scenic area.
High-speed rail: for groups without cars
Deqing has two stations: Deqing (Hangzhou–Nanjing line) and Deqing West (Shanghai–Hangzhou–Hefei line). From Hangzhou East it is 13–20 minutes; from Shanghai Hongqiao about an hour.
Note that Deqing West is roughly 20–40 km from the core Moganshan area around Yucun — 30–50 minutes by car. Some properties offer a paid pickup, usually a few hundred yuan per day, booked a day ahead.
Coach: confirm road access first
If you are travelling by coach, tell the host in advance — parts of Moganshan have height and width limits, and a coach may not be able to reach the property gate.
- Confirm the road conditions and the parking plan with the host.
- Allow extra time for the final stretch on mountain roads.
A two-day, one-night itinerary
This is the classic Moganshan format and the best value for a team trip.
- Day 1, 11:00–13:00 — arrive, lunch (Yucun or Deqing town).
- Day 1, 15:00 — check in, settle; pool or lawn time, when the group actually starts to relax.
- Day 1, 18:00 — cook together or a booked dinner; afterwards, the group photo, awards and late conversation.
- Day 1, 22:00 — watch the quiet hours; most properties start limiting noise around now.
- Day 2, 08:00 — breakfast (self-catering if the property has a kitchen).
- Day 2, 09:30 — outdoor activity: hiking, cycling, the scenic area.
- Day 2, 12:30 — final photo, lunch, head home.
Season and weather
Spring and autumn (April–May, September–October) are the most comfortable seasons and also high season, so book a month or more ahead. Summer in the mountains is cooler than the city and pool properties are in demand. Winter is cold, but properties with hot springs or fireplaces have their own appeal, with better prices and fewer crowds.
The weather turns quickly in the mountains, so build an indoor fallback into the itinerary — which is exactly why we emphasise indoor common space.
