1. Why OTA ratings alone fail you

Most people pick a venue by opening an OTA app and sorting by rating. In Moganshan that method fails systematically, because OTA scores come from individual travellers rating design, breakfast, service and how well a place photographs. A group trip succeeds or fails on entirely different things — can we all sleep here, can we eat together, how late can we make noise.

• C Freedom to host (18) — whether events are explicitly permitted, how early quiet hours start, and how many entertainment facilities exist.
• D Common space and dining (13) — restaurant, kitchen and the richness of shared areas.
• E Parking and amenities (7) — parking quality and nearby dining.
• F Reputation (12) — OTA rating weighted by review volume: 9.9 from two reviews is worth far less than 9.7 from 300.
• G Spatial scale (8) — floor area relative to capacity, i.e. how cramped it feels.
